Discover Aki + Koichi’s Most Beloved Japanese Destinations

For over 1 million people around the world, Aki and Koichi, the retired couple known for their refreshingly joyous content and unparalleled timeless style, creates the corner of the internet that instills inspiration and connection through wholesome posts capturing everything from their fashion choices to family vacations. And for many, it’s their loving relationship with each other and their kids and grandchild that eclipses everything else. The authenticity of their 40-year marriage is obvious in the cover of the Ugg holiday catalogue on which they starred last Christmas, or while sitting head-to-toe, holding hands in the front row of the Dior Pre-Fall 2025 show in Kyoto, Japan.

Aki and Koichi Kim met in Los Angeles over 40 years ago through mutual friends. Discovering that they had a shared background of being born and raised in Japan made them feel instantly comfortable. The two attribute the strong foundation of their marriage to remaining friends for quite awhile before dating.

This love is evident in their social media posts and through the prolific partnerships they’ve had with brands from Loewe to Sezane and amplified when their children, grandson and adorable dog Kuma join their videos and content.

“Genuine love shouldn’t feel heavy all the time. It takes effort, but it should also feel natural and worth choosing every day.” Aki and Koichi tell Wellness East. “Marriage is about two whole people choosing to grow together. It’s important to know who you are, align on values, and stand by them. When you allow each other space to grow while still supporting one another, the relationship grows with you.”

From their signature twirl to how they continue to redefine and level up what timeless style and everyday romance looks like on our timelines, Aki and Koichi are an admirable love story this Valentine’s Day and always.

As avid world travellers whose hearts are always with Japan, Aki and Koichi share their favorite spots to visit together when visiting their home country.

Aki and Koichi’s Favorite Date Spots in Japan:

Daikanyama

Aki’s hometown, and a place that will always hold her heart. Every visit feels nostalgic—familiar, grounding, and full of memories. On our last trip, her childhood neighbor was still living next door, and they spent the afternoon catching up. Of all the places we visit, this is the one that truly feels like home to Aki.

Warehouse

Koichi’s must-visit every trip. His love for denim and elevated basics always leads us back here. Years ago, Yuri bought a Warehouse jacket in New York—Koichi borrowed it once and it quietly became his forever.

Visvim

Located along the Meguro River, the space itself is just as beautiful as the clothes. Thoughtful, intentional, and made to last—this is quality you can feel.

Senbikiya Parlor

A lifelong tradition. Aki used to visit this fruit parlor as a child, and she’s been bringing our family here for years.
