SUPERCHARGED OKINAWAN PURPLE SWEET POTATO WAFFLES

START YOUR DAY WITH THIS EASY PROTEIN-PACKED AND ANTIOXIDANT-RICH DISH FOR BREAKFAST

Have you heard about Okinawan purple sweet potatoes?

A strikingly Instagram-worthy sister to the more well-known orange and yellow varieties, Okinawan purple sweet potatoes are a time-honored superfood and one of the most consumed complex carbohydrates in this region’s diet.

Sweet potatoes in general are lower in calories and carbohydrates than traditional potatoes, acting as a trusted source of fiber to aid in healthy digestion. They contain higher levels of vitamin A to help boost the immune system as well as maintain healthy skin and vision, plus they are rich in vitamin C and vitamin B6 that both support the health of your brain and nervous system. Rounding out this humble vegetable are potassium and magnesium, which work in tandem to help regulate your blood pressure.

Wellness East’s Okinawan Purple Sweet Potato Powder is formulated with all of these good-for-you benefits, and helps to reduce inflammation while it sustains the cardiovascular system, liver, and cognition. It is packed with the highest antioxidant levels for cellular health, so much so that it’s been shown to have 150 percent more antioxidants than blueberries.

Beyond these tangible advantages, this starchy superfood is great for incorporating into your diet as it is a highly versatile ingredient and can easily be added to smoothies, breakfast cereals, baked goods, and more. One of our favorite ways to enjoy this purple potato pleaser is in waffle form in the morning. Below, find our tried-and-true recipe for making Okinawan Purple Sweet Potato Waffles.
